On St Brigid's night and November night pancakes were baked and apples were also eaten on November night. On St Martin's Night a goose was eaten. On Easter Sunday the people would eat plenty of eggs. The people used never eat late at night. Tea was first used in the district about a hundred years ago. Tin and wooden saucepans called peggins were used before cups became common.
