    There is a market held every week for the sale of pigs and fowl. There is also a Christmas market for turkeys. The people are told at the weekly market when the Christmas market will be held.
    Long ago "faction fights" used take place at fairs. In this locality the two parties were the "Magpies" and the "Black Hens". The "Magpies" were the Stapletons and the "Black Hens" were the Kellys. They fought with blackthorn sticks. These "faction-fights" ceased about fifty years ago.
