  1. In ancient Ireland strange appearances were very common. These strange appearances took different forms. Some appeared as human beings, others as dogs, or others as animals. The animals were supposed to represent the devil. Many roads and houses in this district are said to be haunted.
    There is a house in Barnane owned by a man named Kelly. In a certain room in the house a big black dog appears, and the door of the house is always open in the morning. This dog does a lot of damage such as breaking delph and other articles. the dog was banished for seven years by a priest, and when the seven years had passed it reappeared, and it is still
