  1. In the townsland of Ballygibbon there are the ruins of an old house, the places where the door and the windows were are to be seen to-day. There is a story to be told about it, so here it is.
    There was once a man named John White who was living alone in a house. He was beginning to get lonesome because the long November nights were coming in.
    He decided to get married after about a week. When the week was gone he got married to Nora Kelly. One dark night when he and his wife were coming through the wood they lost their way. They thought they were going to die of hunger.
    The wife persuaded him that if a person was hard-hit he could tell his sins to anyone and not to be sorry for them, they would be forgiven.
    The husband went down on his knees and told her his (sing) sins because he wanted the first of the telling. When he was finished she told him to make a general confession. When it came to the wifes turn to tell her sins she said that all the danger was over and there there was no need or him to fret for her. When the
