    The principal farm animals are:- the horse, the ass, the cow, the goat, and the pig.
    The horse is used for working in the farm, ploughing, carting manure and taking the farm produce to market. The cow is the most useful animal on the farm as she produces milk, which can be converted into butter or cheese. When the cow is dried off, and fattened she is killed for beef. Her hide is tanned at a factory and converted into leather. Handles of knives and forks are made from her horns.
    Some people put names on their cows in order to distinguish them such as "bluebell" "darky" which means a black cow 'polly' which means a cow without horns.
