- In olden times there were no boots worn, as at the present time, but sandals made of sheep skin, strapped around the peoples legs. At the present time in the remote places, the people never wear boots or shoes. During the summer the children wear no shoes or stockings but go barefooted. The water after washing the feet should be always thrown out. There is an old superstition that it is never right to let feet water inside.
Boots and shoes are made and also prepared locally by the shoemakers in Dromcollogher.
