This old church was destroyed in the wars of 1641. The local graveyard also contains the ruins of the Bartholomew’s church.
There are no windows or doors left worthy of recognition now. This church was also destroyed in the time of Queen Elizabeth. There seems to be a connection between Dromcollogher and Clouncrew as several of the oldest families are buried in Clouncrew.
There are tombs in the local graveyards. The largest belongs to the Daly family of Woodfield. There are some fine headstones. Celtic designs belonging to the Hannigan families and O’Learys.
Springfield graveyard is where the Protestant church was, which was used for Protestant Service up to a few years ago. There are some tombs there and graveyard is divided for Catholics and Protestants.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
