Acording to local tradition a carpenter who lived in the village of Ardagh was suffering from sore eyes. He visited the well, paid rounds at it and washed his eyes in the well. He was cured, the carpenters name was Mr. Kevin and he was cured about 50 years ago. Even in recent years some people paid rounds to this well on the eve of St. Molua's feast day, August 3rd.
