He sent his son for it and when he arrived at Rathgobane castle, he told the Goban's wife who he was, and what he wanted and as there was no such tool, she guessed what was the matter. There was a great big box with a lid where oatenmeal used to be kept, and there were lots of things in the bottom of it, she told the boy to stoop into the box as it was too deep for herself, to reach the bottom. When he did so, she shoved him into the box, closed the lid, and sent word over to England to his father, telling him his son would remain a prisoner, until her husband would return, and he was back in a very short time.

  2. About a mile to the north-east from the village of Bartlemy is a holy well. The pattern day of this well occurs in late summer. Some years ago this was a very important event. Large crowds of people from the surrounding districts used to come to pray and five round on that particular day.
