  1. WEATHER LORE
    The old people were great for telling the kind of weather that was to come. They used say when the swallows would fly low it was a sign of bad weather and when the rooks would fly low and in a flock, it was a sure sign of bad weather. When there is a rainbow in the sky in the evening it is said to be a sign of the following day being fine but a rainbow in the sky in the morning and the wind blowing from the west means a bad wet day. There is an old saying as follows:
    "A rainbow in the morning is the shepherd's warning,
    A rainbow at night is the shepherd's delight".
    Now there are radio sets and barometers to tell us about the weather that is before us.
