  1. A Song (continued)

O me name is Pat from Sweet Tralee. ¶ I went on tramp the other day.

    (continued from previous page)
Then hand in hand we wlaked away
Till we came to Borris Cross that day
We drank some punch without delay
And lost our road to Gowran.
T'was early for the break of day
That fair young maid to me did say
Oh Pat you have led me astray
From the lonesome road to Gowran.

This song was written when a young girl went away with a strange boy & came back to be married after a few days. Made by the local boys of Gowran.
Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
