  1. There are no fairs held in this district. The nearest place is Goresbridge. Luck money is given in for instance a man pays £21, he gives in five or ten shillings for luck. The person that would be buying the animal would not be allowed to clip it untill it is sold. The halter is given according to the bargain. In Graiguenamanagh a special fair is held for pigs. Long ago there used to be cattle, sheep, & horse fairs held on the "Green" in Gowran. People used to come every Friday. The fair died off & so the man
