  1. People sought treatments by old cures they made up theirselves.
    In the Bloody Bridge their is a stream & if you washed your hands in it & you had warts they would be cured.
    All the old people believed very much in leeches. They were got in a pond near Bennetts' Bridge. The people used to bring them in spring water & if you had leg or hand & you put it in the water the leech would suck out the bad blood. If you had cancer in your stomack & you ate a piece of fat meat & then let down a darkaluker [?] it would eat up all the cancer & then come back again.
