  1. The Parish of Gowran is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin. There are two wells the names of which are Tobar Padraig & Tobar Cosh. There is a well called Boston near the village. St Patrick baptised there.
    One of the inhabitants which lived in front of it washed clothes in the well. The soap remained in bubbles on the water. A man from the village told the new parish Priest namely: Canon O'Hanlon. He blessed the well & told the people only to take water for drinking & other purposes.
