  1. Marriage most frequently take place in Shrove and July.
    May is thought unlucky for weddings. There is a custom here that the mother of the bride must not attend the wedding or if so something is supposed to happen to either the bride or the bride-groom.
    There was matchmaking carried on, many rows were caused by it. There ware a wedding feast held in the brides house when the people were fairly well off. There was usually pigs
