  1. Long ago it was the custom of the old people to keep the hens inside in the house by night. How they used manage them is they had a place made called a coop. A coop contained two sections in which the hens used sleep by night. There was a door in each section. The young hens used sleep in the upper one and the old ones in the lower section.
