    went home and told his wife what had happened, and she said she would poison him. She went down to the well, and threw poison into it.
    The next morning James came down to the well, and took a drink out of it. He felt an ugly taste of it, and then he went mad and died. When the people heard that, they were glad, and then they threw him into a hole beside the well. After that the well got the name of Mad James's well.
