  1. There is a woman living in the townland of Frael, and in the parish of Denn.
    She says that when a stye comes on your eye, to get ten gooseberry thorns and point nine of them towards the stye, and with each one of them you make the sign of the cross over the stye. When that is done you throw the nine thorns away, and keep the tenth one, until the stye is gone.
    There is a man living in Carn, in the parish of Castlerahan named Michael Galligan, and he has a cure for a whittle, and this is how he does it. He mixes plants that grow in his garden and other things also. Many people were cured from the whittle by the mixture he makes. -
