In Bolger's field at Ballinakill there is a well called the Martyr's Well. The sgeach over it grows slanting and is never cut. It is supposed to have red berries on ot all the year round. It is not known how it got its name or whether it is a blessed well or not.
Near the well on Byrne's land in Forties lane is a sgeach called the fairy sgeach. It is never cut or trimmed as something bad is supposed to happen to anyone who touches it.
