  1. Turin is my home district.
    There are about 25 families in the townland - family names most common being Hughes, Forde and O'Connor.
    The houses are mostly now of stone, with slated roof, but about 20 years ago thatched houses were everywhere to be seen.
    Those thatched houses have been in the last 15 years replaced by slated buildings. The townland is supposed to have got its name from Túr "a tower" though no trace of this tower
