  1. The families of Purdon, Levinge, and Reynell were all supposed to come to this area about the time of the plantations 1681.
    Reynell got 1,000 acres of the best fattening land in the country. the Purdon family of three brothers, each got 1,000 - one farm having a splendid castle built on it - and Levenge, who afterwards had the "title of Lord" conferred on the family, got 1,500 acres.
