  1. Mr. Purdon, deceased was landlord in this district for many years. His father and grandfather were also landlords.
    They were supposed to come to this district at the time of the Plantations about 1651.
    They were looked upon as good honourable landlords. The evictions were not carried out by the Purdon family but hundreds of people were evicted - turned homeless on the road-side to die of starvation and disease. When Cromwell began his Plantation in
