  2. The old people say it is very lucky to meet a poor tramp the first thing on Christmas Day, but you must give him coppers or else you will be poor all the year round.
    If you get money on New Year's Day you will have plenty of money through out the year.
    It is lucky to marry on a Thursday or on a wet Sunday, but it is unlucky to marry on a Saturday or on a Friday.
    You can flit on any day of the week except Saturday because Saturday's flitting makes a short sitting. Saturday is a very unlucky day.
