January 1835 a terrible crowd were standing round watching for the execution.
At twelve O clock that day the two men Cooper and Chifley were hanged. One of the victims named Cooper was an uncle to Johanna Nugents mother and both were living balinira. The other man named Chifley lived in an old house near Ruskeen School but the remains are not to be seen to day. There is a cottage belonging to Tim Quinn on the spot now. Cooper lived on the Rusheen road about one hundred and fifty yards from the Creamary in Drombane.
