  1. There's a story told about a man who lived alone in a small house outside the town of Borrisokane. This man was shunned by the people around, and he never spoke to anyone. He had one fierce watch-dog who guarded his house very carefully. Strange sounds were supposed to have been heard by the people coming from the house. It is said that that one night when one of the neighbours was going home he passed this house and there was a light in all the windows. There were weird sounds coming from the inside. When the door opened once the neighbour ran for his life but when he looked back there was nothing to be seen, not even a light in the house. The man who lived there was never seen after that.
