    the butter out of the churn with her hands. The butter is washed to clean it, because particles of butter-milk remain on the the butter when it is taken out of the churn. Salt is put in the butter. The farmer keeps some of the butter for household purposes. He sells the rest of the butter.
    The butter-milk is given to the pigs and the calves.
