- At partys long ago the old people would amuse their friends by making shapes with their hands to look like funny faces, animals and birds.
They also could make turnips to look like men & often (put some form) they would empty out the inside & put a candle in it lighting & put it on the church yard wall to frighten the people that would be coming home late at night.
