- Marriages long ago were different than now a days. They wore different dresses. The women used to wear long skirts. There were no motorcars going long ago. The wife and husband would sit on a horses back with a poster pillon under them. Long ago the men used to steal wifes in the night. In the night there would come boys dressed up with paper on their faces. These were called straw boys. No men would be let in unless they would give money in to the house.
