- Long ago there were supposed to be many leipreachans in Ireland. There are many stories told about them especially by the old people. Leipreachans were small men who used to wear red coats.
It is said that one day a woman was walking through the fields when she saw a leipreachan. She went up quietly behind him.
She had a knife in her hand and she said she would cut the head off him if he would not tell her where to find a pot of gold.
