  1. Landlords
The local Landlord in this district was a man named Pollock. He lived alone in a place called Lismanny near Ballinasloe. He had several large farmyards, and one of those was situated in Glinsk. Each of those was taken care of by a steward. Money was collected each year on 1st March, and those who were not able to pay were given time until the 31st March. After this time, where the rent had not been collected evictions took place. At an eviction it was customary for the occupants of the house to stay inside and barricade the doors and windows try thus to evade an eviction. At such places a small engine known as the "Battering Ram" was used.
