    Long ago Brides considered themselves lucky if they wore: -
    Something old and something new
    Something borrowed and something blue.
    About a hundred years ago the bride and bridegroom either walked to the church or else went on horseback and returned to be served with bacon and cabbage.
    Another old time custom is:-The brides of long ago arose early on their wedding day and peeped out on the keyhole. If the cock was standing alone it foretold bad luck. if accompanied by hens it meant future happiness.
