tons or more. It is said that in olden times the people used to pray on this altar to the rising sun. The people about do not know how the big stone was put upon the three small ones because it is situated on the edge of a cliff. It is on Monagles ground.
One time a man dreamed that there was gold hidden there. When he awoke and got his breakfast he went down to the "Druids' Altar" and he started digging the hill with a spade but he got no gold, you can see the track where he was digging.
Once a year the druids got a young boy and they put him on this big stone, then they would kill the boy and drink his blood as an offering to the sun (their god.) The druids used to preach when the sun was rising in the morning and when doing so they would stand on the Altar. They always spoke in the old Irish language.
