  1. These are the names of the poets who lived in this district long ago. James Brodrick, Anthony Roche, James Foy, James Mc Coy. These men are all dead now, but there is a man living in Foxford now, who writes poetry. His name is Hugh Morris.
    James Brodrick:
    This man lived in Foxford about forty years ago and he died about the year 1905. He was a nailer by trade. All his family before him wrote poetry. Here is a verse he wrote.
    Here's to the land-league forever
    That fills up the cup to the brim
    May the laurels of Parnell nee'r wither,
    Or a star in his glory grow dim.
    Anthony Roche:
    This man was living about fifty-five years ago, and he died in England a few years ago. He wrote
