   Boots are made in the town of Carrickmacross and there is a boot repairer in our district but no shoemaker as they are all dead. The boot repairer is not traditional. Long ago there used to be a shoemaker in every townland but now there are only a few in every parish. Some of the people in olden days would make their own boots and shoes but now they are made in the town and bought in the shops. That is the reason there are not so many shoemakers nowadays. People especially old woman wore clogs in olden times particularly in very cold weather. There are not many people who wear clogs nowadays and they are not made locally. Very many years ago there was a tannery in Carrickmacross. This was about the year
