  1. Constable William OCleary who was stationed in Tullyvin was a famous all round athlete, runner jumper and weight-thrower.
    He jumped six feet in height, and he could sling the fifty six pounds without follow twenty six feet, ten inches, and he could also sling sixteen pounds hammer one hundred and fifty sixty feet. He now lives outside Blackrock, Co Dundalk.
    Mr Simon McCann of Knockbride was a giant and he could easily lift a plough in his one hand. He wore boots twenty two inches long and when he died an exceptionally big coffin was made for him.
