- My home district is Kiffagh. This townland is situated in the parish of Crosserlough.
There are about ten families living in it and a population of thirty.
There is not more than one of each family in the townland.
The houses are mostly slated but some of them are thatched.
The name Kiffagh got its name from the Irish word Coimhead which means a watching place.
It seems that as the ground is elevated it was a watching place in time of war.
There are not many old people in the townland and they do not know any Irish.
There is a great amount of bog in it and there is a river dividing it from Duffcastle.
The townland is nearly all a hill and that is why it is suitable as a watching place.
There is no town in it or country shop.
There is no lake in it except for the river which is not of much importance. There is no name on this river.
It is a fairly large townland but the most of the land is devoted to pasture.- Bailitheoir
