  1. One morning Red Johnnie Smith of Carrickmore was going to Clones fair, and he did not know what time it was. He went on for about a quarter of a mile and he came to a house belonging to Mr Hagerty, and he was going to call to see what time it was, when he heard the noise of horses' feet and carriages, and traps and he did want them. He stepped in behind the ditch until they passed by.
He was surprised to see a hearse drawn by two white horses, and about twelve traps after it. He heard it going on to Ballyhaise. He went out on the road again, and went on to the fair. My father told me this story.
