There was a man coming in from playing cards one very dark night. When he was going past a very old house, a very tall man, with no head stepped out, and walked with him to his own gate, where he fainted.
Two boys were coming from a fair very late of a dark night. They heard a great noise which sounded like a car. When they looked they saw it was the hearse and a coffin in it and it went away again in a blaze of fire before they could see it again. Written by John P Cornyn, Told by John Cornym Dowra

Paddy Fee of Kilduff was a strong man. One night in Dowra he had a row with a neighbour of his, named Mc Loughlin of Unshinagh. They fought and Mc Loughlin was beaten so badly that he never did a day's work until he died which was a short time. Some time after Fee was coming from rambling in Peter Mc Partlin's also of Kilduff. When he was ashort distance from his own house on Kilduff Hill he met a black dog which made for him. He always carried a stick with him, so he beat away the dog until he conquered him.
Then the dog became a turkey that flew and flapped at him He beat the turkey. A donkey came then who kicked and bit him but he beat him off with a stick.Mc Loughlin then came
