- In the townland of Castletown there is a well called St. Brigid's Well. It is said that St. Brigid passed on a journey close to this spot. As she was tired and thirsty she sat down on a rock and a spring well bubbled up. At this well St. Brigid slaked her thirst. In the stream which flowed from it she laved her bruised feet. Ever after that the people of the district believed that the water of this well would cure all ailments particularly warts and scabs on the performance of certain prescribed stations. The person to be cured must go to the well on a Friday evening and kneeling near the well must say an "Our Father" a "Hail Mary" and a Gloria. He then must walk three times round the well and say the prayers again but in(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
