Tom I would not plough that in a week. Connolly took the flesh of him the same as his brother JIm. Jack saw the well bloody. Mother he said Tom has met the same fate as Jim. "I will go seek my fortune said Jack, his mother said which was it a cake of bread or her blessing. Jack said "give me a bit of bread and your blessing "too" He went out in the garden and cut an ash stick which he called a wattle. He travelled on until he came to Connolly's yard. He asked Connolly for work "yes", said Connolly and hired him until the cuckoo would cuck. If you get sorry with that bargain I will take three clips of flesh off your back and you are to do the same with me if I get sorry. Connolly had his wife and daughter living with him. That night Jack got to talk with Connolly's daughter. She asked him why he came here. My father killed two here lately so Jack knew that these were his two brothers. Connolly sent him out the next morning with the hound and two horses and told him to plough what the hound would jump over. "Alright" said Jack. He did not forget his wattle. You do not stir an eye in your head until I am ready catching his wattle.
