When a game of football or hurley is being played there is a man to referee the match. He has a whistle, and if a footballer lifts the ball with his hand or pushes another player, or if any of the players kicks the ball outside his own goals the referee blows the whistle and gives a free kick against the team that fouled.
In hurley the players can't lift the ball with their hands or kick it or put it outside their own goals. If they foul in any of these ways free "pucks" will be given to the other team.- Bailitheoir
