- Michael Walsh used to compose songs. He could neither write nor read. He used to be heard singing his songs just at sunset. He disappeared mysteriously out of this district, and was never heard of afterwards. No story is told as to how he got the gift of poetry. He made a song named "The Thrush of the Wood" in praise of a young girl when he loved.
In English his songs were composed with an occasional Irish word in them.
No one ever heard of his competing with anyone or attacking anyone.
This man was a larbourer, and used to get a day's work here and there.
The people did not hear of the poets ever banishing rats, or attempting to do so.
Their songs are not sung still- Bailitheoir
