- Long ago there was a castle in Moat Farrell which is situated between Ballinalee and Edgeworthstown in County Longford, it was owned by the O'Farrells who long ago were the ruling clan of County Longford. When Cromwell invaded Ireland he knocked this castle down with big guns and thus buried the gold silver and furniture which belonged to the O'Farrells. Many people since have tried to find this treasure.
People named Mulervy have made attempts to unearth it, they dug a large hole but there were stopped by the guards. There is a tunnell in from the road under the ground, Mc Dowell a man from this district has entered this tunnell, when he was a distance in it he had to return owing to bad air.
