Those inside answered "Bridget is welcome". The crosses were then made of the rushes and blessed on All Saint's Day. It was believed it would bring luck to hang one of the crosses over the door. Saint Bridget's eve was celebrated with special supper. The most important event on Saint Patrick's day was the drowning of the shamrock, that was - men went to the public house and got drunk.
