  1. "Local Place Names"

In my townland Shurock about two miles from Mount Temple and three miles from Moate there is a field called the "Schoolhouse Field". It got its name because long ago there was a school in and it was burned. There is no trace of its remains to-day. Now this field belongs to Mrs Thomas Dolan.
In this townland also there is a field called "Jenny's Garden". This garden is so called because long ago there lived in it a woman named Jenny Cunningham. There is no trace of these people now or of the house. Micheal Ledwith owns this garden now.
