  1. One evening my aunt gave me an invitation to spend an evening with her. I went about five o'clock. When I arrived auntie had tea ready for me, as I was after a good long walk of four miles. After tea an old man of about seventy years came in rambling. He seated himself on a stool, took out his pipe and settled himself for a real pleasant smoke. My auntie knew he was in a mood for storytelling. She asked if he would kindly narrate one of his interesting stories for me which he did. - Needless to say I was not troubling much about home, the story being so funny. I was horrified when I saw the clock pointing to nine, and four miles of hard road before me. I prepared to go, sorry to leave the storyteller and my aunt. On my homeward journey I had to pass by a graveyard. When I was getting near it, I gave a frightful scream with the dent of fear. I went as fast as a fairy-blast. I was humming a tune so that I might get courage to pass the graveyard. I was perspiring on passing it as I saw a big black object with long ears and a long tail. I thought it was a ghost or the old boy. After a while I prayed for strength and courage, and as I got both, I went nearer to the
