Matches are very seldom made in my district, but when they are, money is given as dowry and stock or goods are never given.
Marriages took place in the houses about eighty years back.
On the wedding day a feast is held in the brides house. "Straw boys" used to visit the house in former times. They were dressed in straw, and the people gave them money and drink.
