- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Marriages most frequently take place at Easter and Shrove.
August and October are considered unlucky months to get married. There is an old saying:
Monday for health
Tuesday for wealth
Wednesday the best day of all
Thursday for losses
Friday for crosses
Saturday no luck at all.
Matches are very seldom made in my district, but when they are, money is given as dowry and stock or goods are never given.
Marriages took place in the houses about eighty years back.
On the wedding day a feast is held in the brides house. "Straw boys" used to visit the house in former times. They were dressed in straw, and the people gave them money and drink.- Bailitheoir
