    A great number of different weeds grow about this part of the country.
    Some of the names of them are: thistles, dock, sorrel, cold-foot, dandelion, chicken-weed and the nettle. The most harmful weed on the farm is the Chicken Weed because it spreads rapidly and impoverishes the land. The thistle and the nettle are also very bad weeds.
    Some herbs only grow where the land is good and others only grow where the land is bad.
    The thistle and the dock are generally found in good land.
    Some time ago the medicine was make from herbs.
    The dock cures a sting of the nettle. The Mullan plant cures a bad cold or a decline and the lady fingers cures swelling.
