  2. The Red Bog
To the north east of Dunshaughlin and about 1 quarter of a mile from the village is a district known as the Red Bog. There are only about ten families living there now, but there were about 40 families there some 50 years ago. The remains of about 10 dwellings may still be traced, and the small gardens or holdings of former owners may still be seen.
There was at one time a small lake in the red bog, and one man living there still remembers being told by his grandfather that he saw a boat being used on the lake.
