- 1. Water from St Scacnaill's well mixed with clay at the bottom of the well is made into a paste and rubbed on sore eyes, as a cure. This must be done for 9 consecutive days.
2. The water of St John's well (in Warrenstown about 3 miles from Dunshaughlin) cured rheumatism.
3. Sheep's milk is given to children as a cure for rickets.
4. The cream of goat's milk is used as a cure for sores.
5. The steam from boiling tea is inhaled as a cure for whooping cough.
6. Ferrets are given a large portion of milk to drink and whatever is left is given to children as a cure for whooping cough. Children suffering from whooping cough are passed 3
times under the 1st foal of an ass to prevent them coughing too much. Information supplied by
